A
lot of my customers ask, ‘how did you get started?’ It
is a frequently asked question and one I love to
answer. It gives my customers insight into who
I am and one of the most important aspect of my
life – my salon, my career, my passion. From
the day I did hair on my first client, I
knew I wanted my own Salon. I’ve worked
as a stylist for many years now and have had
the opportunity to work for, and learn the
ups and down of owning a Salon from a number
of very
astute business people. It is this experience
that drove me to work hard in the hopes that
one day, the Salon I worked in would finally
be my own. Working for others all those years helped me
perfect my skills as a stylist but, it also gave
me insight into how to run a successful Salon
- more importantly how I wanted to run mine.
When a person begins to visualize and mentally
organize the details of their business, every
nuance, no matter how small, is painstakingly
scrutinized. How can I, how will I, do things
differently; how will I do it better? How do
I personalize it, shape it and make it my own?
What products and services should I offer? What
type of clientele will frequent my establishment?
What personalities and traits should my stylists
possess, what level of customer service can I
successfully deliver, and most important of all,
what will I name my new business? I
can now comfortably say I have the answers
to all those questions. Especially the most
important one – what will I name my salon? The answer:
Salon Cybele. I came across the name years ago
and when I learned its origin, Greek meaning ‘she
of the hair’, I knew it was destined to
be the name of my salon. I held onto that name
for years because for me the name couldn’t
be more perfect – if ever there was a
name meant for a salon it had to be Cybele.
I opened
the doors of Salon Cybele in October of 2005
and never looked back. Today the salon is a great success and as we
continue to grow, expanding on that success,
with the help of my business partner I have recently
added numerous gift, salon, spa and personal
care items to our existing product lines. The
salon clients love them and a friend suggested
I offer these products online. Eric and I believe
everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy
these wonderful products, though they may never
have the opportunity to visit the salon, and
I agree. Even though you may never get to visit
